A store that keeps nothing about you and sells only one thing: a head start. No account, no profile, no cart that follows you around the web. You buy time, not access — and everything is free in the end anyway.
What's for sale: timing, not access
The Department ships a new drop of Gifts every month — single-file, zero-dependency, MIT tools you own forever. Paying members get each drop one month early, and that head start is the whole product. At the end of the month, every Gift in that drop is free and MIT for everyone, exactly like all the ones before it.
To be plain: this is not a paywall, and nothing is ever members-only. If you can't pay, you wait a few weeks and get the same tool, free, forever. If you can, you're funding the next drop and getting it first. We sell the timing. The access is always free.
How the store works — keepless
Most stores are built to remember you. This one is built to forget you. There is no account to make and no profile to keep: an order is a file you hold, not a record we own. The commerce underneath is deliberately small and completely open — you can read every line of it:
- integer cents — money is whole cents, never a floating-point number that can drift.
- one order lifecycle — placed → paid → fulfilling → closed, and nothing hidden between.
- keepless pay — the payment step takes your money and grants the thing; it does not keep you.
- append-only proof — what happened to an order is a record you can replay, not a claim you have to trust.
The store spine — cart, order, money, the keepless pay stub — is open source in the repository, under the same covenant as everything else here. You never have to take our word for how your order is handled; you can read it.
status This landing is static and honest about it. Live checkout is served by the Forest box, and it goes live when that box is deployed — so rather than show you a button that would do nothing today, the store says where it stands. The real, free thing you can take right now is the Gifts. If you've already ordered and want to know where it is, that's support.
Both ways in. Nothing in this store, or anything it sells, needs an AI to use or an AI to build with. The same tools serve the developer who lets an AI write every line and the developer who will never touch one — and everyone in between. The store treats both the same: it takes your money, hands you the thing, and forgets you. Both ways in.
